... From the
HR Noticeboard ...
To ensure that the
morale and energy level is (almost) constantly high,
especially during product development, the Human
Resource department has decided to implement the
'Best Employee of the
Week' award to any member who has contributed greatly
to the company. The deserving member(s) will get
a chocolate and wear the medal throughout the entire
meeting (or the entire week if he/she fancies).
Hall of Fame:
Week 9 - Shaobing
Week 10 to 11 - Ann
Week 17 - Sebastian, Adam, Liz, Kerryn
Week 19 - Kerryn
Week 20 - Sebastian
Week 21 - Adam
Sales Training
Alf Wilson (Ann's brother), a business
development manager for Goldwell, was invited to
share some of his experiences and tips on
sales. The members enjoyed his company as well as picked
up some skills to from preparing, starting, conducting
and finishing a sale. This short training session
has provided confidence in approaching
customers with the SLUG™ and making the sale.
Scyagenics
Bonding Session
The HR department has arranged the
next meeting (4/9/07) to be held at the Redbacks
Hotel for a change. It is
also to create a more fun-filled environment
for bonding and sharing
amongst members and encouragement to create better
sales in the next few weeks.
Breakeven
Party
The last couple of weeks has been
a tiring week for the entire team, especially the
manufacturing depatment. Sales of the SLUG™ have been
very positive from various institutes and the breakeven
point has been surpassed! To celebrate this achievement,
a breakeven party will be held after the next
meeting (2/10/07).
- Activities -
Bio21 Open
Day - 19 August 2007
Scyagenics had its
first open day at the Bio21 Institute, in-conjuction
with the University of Melbourne Open Day, held on
19 August 2007. It was a good experience for its
members to interact with research scientists, post-graduate
students, undergraduate students as well as high
school students and parents.
Since Scyagenics
is able to offer a wide range of lab-guides to young
students with developing interests in various subjects,
not only was it a good chance to gain feedback about
the SLUG™, there was also a generation of
interest in the product. Despite having prototypes
on display, many have left their contacts with us
for further information when the SLUG™ is released
for sale. The promotional 'Scyagenics Circular Periodic
Table' was also well-recieved by the public and have
been snatched off the table like hot-cakes.
Scyagenics would like to thank all
who have stopped for a chat with us. We will keep
you informed about further developments or keep checking
in on our website!
BEP™ Trade Expo
- 27 August 2007
The YAA BEP™ Trade Expo was
hosted by Mallesons Stephen Jaques
& YAA to showcase innovative and exciting products
under development in the Biotechnology field. Representatives
from each team arrived earlier to set up the booths
and were rewarded with a breath-taking, top-floor
view of the city at sunset.
Held at the Mallesons Stephen Jaques (Bourke Place),
the event was coordinated efficeintly by Ms Mary
Heath (Vic State Coordinator) and the new BEP™ program
coordinator, Ms Penny Ladd, who ushered
the official start of the event with an opening speech,
welcoming all who have turned up for
the occasion. Following which, Dr Carolyn Rolls,
the Mallesons' representative, gave a brief description
of the BEP™ teams participating this year,
their sponsors and the respective products. Guests
and participants were received warmly under the hospitality
of Ms Helen Collier (Mallesons Events
Coordinator) and Ms Bianca Roberts (Mallesons Marketing
Coordinator) with their team of friendly staff.
The evening went by smoothly for every team, displaying
their products to potential customers as well as
an exchange of ideas for improvement.
